2009 Okie-Tex Party
This page is sort of a review of the 2009 party, with comments from some of the attendees, pictures they took, and comments about and from our speakers.
This year we had about 300 attendees. The Moon fell at an odd time this year and caused the Star Party to be in early Sept., or late Oct.. The dates chosen for this year were; Sept 12th. - Sept. 20th.. While the weather was not as hot ask expected there were more clouds to deal with.

In case you're posting photos taken at the 2009 Okie-Tex Star Party, the following URL has some I took at the event. The star field photos were all taken with a Canon 5D Mark II at 28 or 17 mm for about 30 seconds at ISO 3200 or 6400.

details:We enjoyed Okie Tex again this year. It was our second year and we plan to return in 2010. Attached are two pictures from 9/17/2009. I wanted to see what kind of wide field images I could get with simple inexpensive equipment. Both pictures are 60 second exposures at ISO 1600 using a Canon Rebel XS and Canon 24 mm lens at f 3.2. I used a home made motorized barn door tracker. These two pictures are total unedited and not enhanced. Both images show the dark skies and the Milky Way. One image is toward the west and over the camp building. One image is to the west and includes the Milky Way and M 31. Next year I plan to come with an Astrotrac and longer lens.
Clear Skies,
Donald Bumgarner

Howdy,
Had a great time! Weather made imaging particularly challenging this year, but I managed a few images. Here is the first I thought I'd share...
